LAKHON
ME EK
The credits are in Hindi, but it stars Mehmood and Pran. This is a rare
leading role for Mehmood, who usually plays comic parts. Maybe because,
as the movie states at the beginning, 'This is the story of the simpleton,
'Bhola' who lives in Bombay'. He's like India's Jerry Lewis. There are
two good routines in this flick, one which features Pran dancing in
a bar where Bhola is selling peanuts & cigarettes. See the picture
at bottom right, and notice that the four men are Indians with black
face paint to look like Africans!!! They tear off her clothes and she
dances around the bar. There are some other simpletons in the flick,
including the classic nerd, and the fat guy friend. This one's got it
all. The rest of the pix on this page are from a great number called
'Jogi...' (music by R.D. Burman). Quite the singalong, with some great
sets including the moonscape below. In fact this film seems to be shot
entirely in studios, giving it a real look of its own. Note, the name
on the box was 'Lakhon Main Ek' or 'Lakhon Mein Ek'.
